Fifteen foot power dinghy

I started this project after finding some boat plans on the internet on the site of www.compumarine.com.  After seeing the beautiful boats one can make using relatively simple means, I wanted to try it for myself out of sheer curiosity.  The boat is made from  profiled 1 x 2 cm western red cedar strips that are side-to-side assembled onto a mould constructed from particle board "stations" that match the cross-section of the boat across its length. After all strips are mounted, they are covered on the inside and outside with fibreglass cloth that is subsequently impregnated with epoxy resin, forming a very strong laminate. The expoxy turns the cloth completely transparent - just like varnish - and provides a watertight sealing.

I only used the boat a few times, the pleasure was mostly in making it.
